A First

We woke up Monday morning a bit exhausted from hiking around the San Diego Zoo so we decided to take it slow.  After all, we had so many days of vacation left and vacation is about getting in a little R&R.  We spent the morning in our jammies and ate breakfast, watched movies, and just enjoyed each other.

'The Littles got in an early morning workout.

We ate breakfast on our balcony and watched some ships leaving the bay for the day.

'The Littles' each took a nap (at the same time!) and 'The Hubs' and I took turns working out at the gym.  We got everybody ready for the day around 3 pm.  And only because we had to.  We had a big surprise for 'The Boy'.

We went Downtown and ate and early dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory and then took a walk towards Petco Park where we surprised 'The Boy' with tickets to his first baseball game!

He was so excited.

I was told they had a great time.
He told me the best part was the popcorn.

I went shopping with 'Munchkin' and 'Mister' and then took them back to the hotel for more movies.  I am so glad that 'The Boy' had his first baseball game with just his Dad.  'The Hubs' said it was a great Daddy moment.

Father's Day

We didn't realize until a few weeks before our vacation that we planned it over Father's Day.  It was just one of those things that I wasn't sure was the best idea but couldn't be changed.  Last year, we spent Mother's Day on vacation and it was wonderful.  Father's Day away from home was pretty great too.

When I asked 'The Hubs' what he wanted to do on his day and he said, "let's go to the zoo".  I asked if he was sure because, I'm not gonna lie, the zoo is pretty much my least favorite place on earth.  He said he wanted to spend the day with the kids doing what the kids wanted to do because, after all, they are the reason he gets to celebrate the day as a Dad.

We got off to a slow start, letting 'The Littles' watch TV and eat breakfast in their pj's.

'Mster' took an early morning nap.  That's his thing.  He likes to take a nap right after he wakes up.

'The Littles' were so excited to give Daddy his present.  i think they were more excited to finally tell him about all of the apps they played at the Apple store.

We got him a golf swing analyzer that connects to his Ipad.  I really don't know exactly what it does.  it involved golf and the Ipad so it was, naturally, a hit.

We got to the San Diego Zoo in the early afternoon.  All of 'The Littles' were awake when we pulled them out of the car but when we walked through the entrance we saw that the boys were fast asleep.

'Munchkin' was stoked.

She got Daddy all to herself for a while.

She was so adorable, pointing to the animals, calling all of them cows (and mooing at the camels).  It was her first time and just watching her joy as she took it all in made me dislike the zoo a little less.

Waving at the elephants.

'The Boy' woke up from his power nap (20 minutes) just in time for the Elephant Odyssey exhibit.

This one was happy to snooze in the sun.

And when he woke up, he got the best seat in the house.

Just after these adorable pictures of 'Mister' were snapped, he had the biggest blowout we have ever seen.  And since I was wearing him at the time, I got to spend the rest of the day smelling like baby poop.

She finally got her chance to nap.

We finished off the day at Sammy's for dinner.  'Munchkin' had so much fun playing with her pizza dough.  'The Boy' is not pictured because no one wants to see a picture of a pouter.

Daddy with his 'Littles'.  Happy Father's Day!

At Four Months

Oh, Little Monkey,
The days are quickly melting into one another and you are growing so fast.  That little newborn face has rounded so much so, it barley seems the same.  You are our chunky boy...not super chunky but, you are our biggest baby.  You and 'Munchkin' will likely weigh the same in no time. At your check up this month you weighed 14 lbs. 11 oz and were 26 1/2 inches long.  You are in size three diapers and wear size 6 month clothes.
We love watching you grow into yourself, curiously taking everything in.  You have found your feet and you ooo over toys and people eating real food.  You'll have your turn soon enough.  We haven't started you on solids yet because you have eczema that, sadly, is worsening by the day.  The doctor is concerned that we may not notice a skin reaction to an allergic food so we are waiting another month.
You are still breast feeding every 2 hours and you can go a 6 hour stretch at night.  I applaud myself for breast feeding for this long.  I've never lasted past 6 weeks before.  I enjoy every second of it though the big kids are starting to be resentful of our special time together.
This month you have accomplished so much.  You finally roll from your back to your front.  You began awkwardly grasping toys and grabbing at the toys dangling above your bouncy chair.  Your eyes have begun following you brother and sister.  I can see your little brain trying to figure out how to keep up with them.  You'll be chasing after them before I know it, I'm sure.
We love you Little Monkey (our favorite nickname for you...from chunky monkey) and can't wait for what next month brings.

Coronado Getaway

We love to vacation but we knew this year we would be extremely limited in our destination choices because we had to go over summer break and 'Mister' would still be so young.  The though of schlepping all of his baby gear and putting him on a long plane ride at four months old seemed torturous.  So we settled on a week long trip to our favorite local island.

We checked in the early evening before grabbing dinner at Panera.  Then we got 'The Littles' ready for bed and enjoyed some adult quiet time on the balcony while taking in one of my favorite views.
.
 Coronado Bridge at night.

Sleep tight little 'Mister'.

The next day, my parents and cousins (who were in town visiting) met up with us for some lunch and an afternoon on the beach.  This was actually the only day we spent at the beach the entire vacation.  Beach days are hard when you're out numbered 3:2.

Somebody tell that kid that crack is whack!

Watching Lexie and 'Munchkin reminded me so much of being little and playing with my Aunt (Lexie's mom).  'Munchkin' loves her so much.  She called her Mommy the whole time.

It was a little breezy and we did our best to keep 'Mister' warm.
