SYTYCD Top 18- Fast Forward

I can't believe this week is flying by. Usually, before I go on vacation, the week just drags on and on. This time, I can barely get everything done that needs to be before i head off into the sunset.

Week two of SYTYCD was different for me than any other viewer. I TIVO this show and start watching it about 20-30 minutes in so that I can speed through the commercials. This week, I also did laundry and started packing so, I watched it very s-l-o-w-l-y.

About 45 minutes into the program I sat on the couch after putting a load of clothes away in the closet, and sat on the TIVO remote. This sent stupiTIVO into a fast forward frenzy. I started looking for the remote and sat on a different button which told stupiTivo to change the channel. This caused the recording to stop. No big deal. I thought that I had recorded the show and went looking for it in my Tivo library and it wasn't there. I had a minor freakout and missed two dances which I watched this morning on youtube.
There were so many fantastic numbers and talented dancers this week. However, a few started to show their weaknesses. Shane Sparks (hip hop choreographer) was back and all of his numbers sucked. Not a fan. Never have been.
Worth mentioning were a Jazz routine choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, performed by Ade and Mellisa and a Contemporary number by Canadian SYTYCD choreographer, Stacey Tookey, performed by Jonathan and Karla.
Top honors go to Brandon and Jeanette dancing disco. Fun, fast and perfectly performed. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought my TIVO was on fast forward.

Weekend Roundup

We are busy bee's! While we should be shopping and getting everything together for our upcoming trip, we just have too much going on around here to do so. I think that it is safe to say that next week I'll be running all over doing last minute vaca prep on my own.

We started the weekend off at 'The Hubs' parents house for a birthday dinner. I know, I know. How much birthday does one girl need? We were celebrating all the May birthdays in the family so I did have to share this time.
It was nice to see everyone and I got to spend time with my nephew Cade and niece Natalie (both 3 months) whom I've only met once. I had a nice chat with my sis-in-law, Janelle, and survived the country karaoke hour. Unfortunately, while we were having family time, some stink head keyed our car! It's always something.

Saturday was filled with housework (boring) and another appearance of my 'Hubs', the 'Squirrel Killer' (though, I should change this title to 'Squirrel Hunter' as he has not killed one single squirrel yet).
My little helper, scrubbing the kitchen floor.
We spent the afternoon at Pat and Oscar's for lunch and "feeding" ducks at the duck pond. The ducks were so filled with bread sticks that they didn't want any of ours and half of them were asleep.
'The Boy' not eating his pizza. Monkey backpacks are so much more interesting.
The Boy with a bread stick that he eventually ate instead of throwing to the lazy ducks. The whole time he yelled, "Come ear duts".

Me an 'The Boy' who refuses to look at the camera for a nice picture.

We finished off the weekend at Pala Casino with 'The Lynda'. We lounged in a poolside cabana, drank some Maggies :), and 'The Boy' showed off his new swimming skills. 'The Hubs' and I went home up $70. Not too bad. No pics because our camera battery was not charged :(. We loved the facelift but, some of the new restaraunts need to get thier stuff together. Could have done without the jackhammer breaking up the tile lobby at 3 am though.

We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and wish you a good week ahead!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Hi everybody! It's me-Tyler. I threw Mommy a birthday party for her 30th birthday. It was a lot of fun. Daddy helped me. Grammie and Pop, Uncle Mikey, and my cousins, Jake, Lexie, and Max, were there. We played in the backyard and Daddy barbecued hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner.

Mommy took this picture. She said we should take it because we never know when Daddy will be this helpful in the kitchen again.

This is the yummy ice cream cake I got for Mommy. She said it was sweet just like me.

After we ate cake, we opened presents. I got Mommy new sunglasses to wear on our vacation. I got her a card too. This is what it said:

Happy Birthday

Thank you for being such a wonderful, beautiful Mommy.

I love you with all my little boy heart.

Love Tyler.

She said it was the best card ever and she even cried a little. Happy Birthday, Mommy. I love you soooooooooo much!

I took this picture of me and Mommy. Well, she helped a little.

SYTYCD Week 1

So, I should be sleeping or at least getting ready for bed but, I had a day. I mean a DAY. You know, the kind where 7 days are jam packed into one. Lucky me. So, I am unwinding.

I love So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). Lurvvvve it. I am so glad that it is back on! I am already falling for several dancers and getting cozy with my old friends, "your joooges"! So looking forward to what Mia Michaels, Tabitha and Napolean, and Lil C have in store for us this season.

For those of you who don't know (and I am pretty sure that you all do considering you are all family), I used to be a dancer. I started dancing when I was three and trained for years in ballet, jazz, tap, modern and hip hop. I originally majored in dance in college and only changed majors when I realized that any other career choice would be more lucrative. I slowly stopped dancing and now only dance in my head while doing cardio. I wish I had never stopped and that I had the time to pick it back up again.

So I live vicariously through the dancers on the show and feel my heart skip a beat with every emotional movement. I have decided that each week I will be posting my favorite performance so that it will live on in my bloggy world.

This week, I give it to the hip hop. Thank you Napolean and Tabitha for making my head think that I, too, can pop and lock. Phillip and Jeanine-Muah!

Weekend Update

Well, the weekend is almost over and it was quite eventful. My cousins from Arizona, Jake(12), Lexie(11), and Max(10), were in town and we had fun trying to keep up with them. Friday night was spent at the Temecula Balloon and Wine festival. I have lived in this area for 8 years now and this was my first time attending the festivities. Saturday was just a visit at our house and my birthday BBQ (finally) thrown by the boy. Today we spent the morning with friends at their little boys' New Swing Set Party. Throw in a squirrel hunt, painting, and home improvements and you get an invitation to crazy town. Phew! Will get into detail in future posts-I have TONS of pictures. This is just an update, after all.

Viva, Las Vegas: Part 2

We were at the MGM Grand! I was so happy because we've stayed at this hotel a bunch of times and I love the rooms and the pool is fab. 'The Hubs' got us a fancy suite with a Jacuzzi tub (hee hee) and we both started to feel better once we got in the room.
The first night was a bit of a bust. We played a few slots at the New York hotel and ate dinner at 'Nine Fine Irishmen'. The food was great as was the beer but, what were we thinking? Why did we eat?
Needless to say, we went back to the room and were both sound asleep by 1030! In Vegas!
The next day, my birthday, we were both back to our good old selves and so we ventured off the strip for some brunch. We ate at 'The Egg and I' on W. Sahara. Fantastic!
The rest of the day was spent by the pool sipping Maggies. Perfection!

'The Hubs' and I poolside. Not so bad for having a baby and never enough time to work out.

We returned to our room and found a nice surprise waiting for us. 'The Lynda' arranged for champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to be delivered to our room. We devoured it all in the Jacuzzi tub (hee hee).

'The Hubs' took me out for my birthday dinner to Shibuya, a Japanese restaurant in the MGM. So good. The best spicy tuna roll ever!

♫ Happy Birthday to me. I love this sake. Can we get this picture done with. Want to eat edamame. ♫
Blowing out the candles. Happy 30th!
We rounded the night out at KOI lounge in the Planet Hollywood hotel, drinking martinis and Jameson. Such a fun trip!
♥Thank you Johnny. I love you!♥

Viva, Las Vegas: Part 1

'The Hubs' took me to Las Vegas for my actual birthday and for our first weekend away from 'The Boy' since he was born. For whatever reason the whole thing was a surprise. The only thing that I knew was that we were going to Las Vegas. Here's the story in typical Johnson fashion:

'The Hubs' drops 'The Boy' off at 'The Mimi' and 'The Papa's' and walks through a patch of weeds to get to the door. He comes home and his eye is swollen to the size of a golf ball and he thinks he should go to the doctor. Thank goodness I'm a nurse-Rescue dose of Benadryl and an ice pack. Now realizing that I will have to drive.
We get on the road and five minutes in, 'The Hubs' realizes that he forgot his wallet and cell phone. Turnaround.
We get on the road (again) and 'The Hubs' falls asleep.
We stop in Barstow to gas up and go potty. 'The Hubs' is gone for half an hour. He comes out of the gas station and says, "I'm sick". We head out and I am still driving.
We stop in Baker and eat lunch at Del Taco. 'The Hubs' doesn't think this is such a bad idea even though he has some stomach bug. We head out and still I drive.
We stop in Primm so that we can switch drivers (finally) and so I can use the potty. I come out and say, "I'm sick".
'The Hubs' drives us into Vegas and we are both screaming with stomach pains. We both have the stomach flu or food poisoning. I am blindfolded (well technically I just have a jacket over my face but you get the point). 'The Hubs' is driving me in circles so that I have no clue where we are but it is just making me nauseous.
"I can't take anymore", I scream. "Pull over." We hang out at Terrible's gas station for a while. Did you know that gas stations have handy one time doses of Pepto Bismal. Thank goodness. We scarf them down like they're jellybeans.
We start up again (I'm still blindfolded) and 'The Hubs' drives around in circles again. Pepto works pretty quickly and I no longer feel like I am on the teacups at Disneyland.
We arrive at our hotel and park. I open my eyes (take the jacket off my face) and we're in a familiar parking garage. I still have no clue where we are until I turn around and see the escalator sign.
...To be continued because this post is sooooo long!
