A Little Bit 'Wicked'

It has been so long since I've blogged! So much has been happening around here for our family. Our 'Big Things' that are happening are probably not such a huge deal to you all but, for us, they are ginormous! They are still not ready to be posted about so, I'll move forward with what was the most amazing show I have seen in a long time!

'The Mom' surprised me on my thirtieth (ugh) birthday with tickets to see Wicked in San Diego. This weekend, the two of us (yes, just the two of us) drove down to the Gaslamp District to see the show and for a bit of shopping and relaxing.

We arrived at the Hilton in Gaslamp (such a nice hotel) around 1 pm. We walked around Downtown and browsed in the fun shops in the 90 (yes, 90) degree weather. We went to a yummy Mexican restaurant for dinner where I had the tastiest maggy and then we were off to the theater.

Can I just say, I was very excited to see this musical being that I was one of the last people to see it. I haven't been to a musical like this since I saw Le Miserables in NYC when I was 21. The only musical I have seen in between the two was Mama Mia and that hardly compares to the brilliance that are these two.

Wicked is brilliant! I adored the story, was moved by the music, and walked out of the theater changed. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all be just a little less Wicked and a little more Elphaba- I mean good.

...and...

I'm not pregnant, family. I would never announce that kind of news here without telling you all first. But you can keep guessing if you'd like.

Let's Just Say...

...that there is a reason I have not been blogging. Big things are coming, people. Stay tuned.

A Beachy Day

We spent Saturday at Encinitas beach. This was the first time we went to this location. We started finding that Oceanside was getting more and more crowded plus, it came highly recommended by one of 'The Steve's' coworkers. We couldn't have been happier and I think that it is safe to say that Encinitas is our new beach spot.

We didn't get to the beach until about noon but found that parking wasn't a problem. There is an awesome playground that we didn't play on but, intend to on our next visit. It was such a beautiful day and, although we were concerned with how 'The Boy' would react to the ocean water, everybody had a blast.
Here is our set up
Pop building a barrier for 'The Boy'

There's that annoying hat again

'The Boy' loved the idea of the water but not actually being in the water at first. It didn't take him ling to warm up to the water. A few hours after we had arrived, he was in and out the rest of the day.

Grammie and Mommy

Good thing Pop built that barrier. The tide came in and washed it away.

Now that's a happy face.
We had a great time except for one very poopy diaper in the end. Too much apple juice! :( We can't wait to go back to our little spot.
